Day 2: Sumo, Tokyo Skytree, Sensoji Temple

I never learn. Got a different flavor of the same yogurt that gave me diarrhea the last day. I again had the same problem. I almost didn’t make it to the bathroom at the train station.
This guy is 450lbs and ranked 6 in the world in sumo. Because we went to the morning practice during the annual Tokyo tournament a lot of the top guys were at this practice. Any wrestler in the white belt are top 70 in the world.
Sumo Dome
Each flag is a different sumo wrestlers name hanging outside the Sumo dome

Today started at 5am I couldn’t sleep from on account of my hangover so I was up early. I got dressed and headed to the family mart to get the items you saw. I have no idea why I bought and drank the yogurt drink again. I nearly pooped myself in the train station if it wasn’t for the sweet old man getting out of the stall after I knocked on it the day would have had a lot less pictures. Mark and Jose woke up around 7 and we were headed for the Sumo Practice in Ryokogen. We arrived and were told we can only take pictures no videos, no taking and no sunglasses. Still because we are here during the sumo tournament we were able to see maybe 5-10 of the top 70 wrestlers in the world. That 450lb guy with the severe diaper rash, type 2 diabetes and heart failure can do a full split. Talk about an elite athlete and he’s only 22. Sumo is interesting most of the wrestlers only earn a 5,000 USD annual salary and only when they reach the top 70 ranks they start making money. The wrestlers also have to compete in each tournament or their rankings fall dramatically. One of the other white belts ranked 21 had an incredible story. He was ranked around 10 in the world when he suffered a serve neck injury. His ranking fell to the 6th division (there are 7 divisions and the top two (top 70) are the only ones that make a considerable salary) he then was able to rise back to rank 21 over a year period and this dude was small like maybe 180 soaking wet. We then went on to see some gardens and the Japanese sword “museum” which was just a room with a bunch of swords. We traveled to the Tokyo Skytree which is above Tokyo Solomachi, a large mall consisting of over 400 stores. The Skytree was well worth it giving us a 360 view of the endless city of Japan. Even from the height of 450m I wasn’t able to see an end to the city. At this point Jose and Mark started to drag their feet and I can understand we were probably around 18k steps for the day. We traveled to senoji temple it’s sort of like the equivalent of the Sistine chapel in Italy. These two were completely checked out and I get it my butthole was so chafed at this point every step hurt but man tf up and see the temple. You’re supposed to get a fortune, pray for your wishes to come quickly and such. Mark and Jose were completely against participating in the rituals. For Jose, he claims it’s a catholic thing and mark is just too cool for the ritual I guess. Whatever I did the rituals and even though I pulled a bad fortune I tied it up and it’ll get burned later so it doesn’t(I hope my fortune was super dark said I would be alone all my life) I was so superstitious that I tied my fortune too tight a couple times and it ripped. The street leading up to the temple of is filled with sweets and street food. I really enjoyed a custard filled mochi on the way back to the hostel. We were all exhausted from the day and ended up taking a nap till 9pm when we decided we wanted an Omakase. Now I didn’t know you had to book these in advance but I was able to find one that didn’t require a res in walking distance man do I love Tokyo. The only problem with this place was that it was lined with hookers and their pimps trying to get us to pay for sex or something. The one negative thing about this city is that there is rampant prostitution. I will never buy one but Jose while doing 0 research for this trip has of course extensively researched Japanese hookers and how to acquire one. Apparently it is relatively cheap like 20 dollars. How sad is that that these poor women have to give blow jobs to these creeps for 20 dollars…has only fans not reached Japan how is a blow job cheaper than a steak back home.
